The Roc d’Azur is undeniably the flagship event of the mountain biking season. Sportingly, of course, but also economically. Its impact extends even beyond the purely MTB sphere. This 28th edition will not stray from this tradition of conviviality where top-level meets mass participation in all simplicity from October 5 to 11, 2011.
The countdown has begun.
More numerous each year, all mountain biking enthusiasts will once again gather at the nature base of Fréjus to participate in one or more of the 23 events outlined in a unique natural setting, the Massif des Maures.
But above all, to share unique moments among athletes driven by the same passion. Once again, nearly 18,000 riders will take part (almost half of the races are already full, some since April…), more than 150,000 to cheer them on and undoubtedly admire them.
Champions, amateurs, men, women, children, but above all, enthusiasts who for several days will not only sweat and perhaps even suffer a bit (to their great delight), but also wander from stand to stand, in search of the latest innovations, eager for the slightest information.
A royal lineup. Faithful to the Roc d’Azur, the elite of the discipline will be present at the beginning of October in Fréjus to celebrate the end of season and meet the public.
To name just a few: the Czech Jaroslav Kulhavy, world champion, European champion and World Cup winner, Julie Bresset, world champion Espoirs early September in Champéry (Switzerland), Pauline Ferrand Prévot, bronze medalist in these Espoirs worlds, the Polish Maja Wloszczowska, 2010 World Champion and Olympic silver medalist in Beijing and of course the star of the discipline, Julien Absalon from Vosges, double Olympic champion, four-time world champion and five-time World Cup winner among other illustrious titles.
Cross-country MTB, BMX with a park of 14 modules and blocks specially created for the event, freestyle, dirt with some of the biggest names in this highly spectacular discipline, slopestyle, an exhibition, activities, and above all, encounters.
The Roc d’Azur 2011 is a promising vintage.
