On Friday, February 4th, OGC Nice unveiled its new winter transfer signing, the talented Billal Brahimi.
“I am proud to be in a big, ambitious club like Nice.” The versatile Franco-Algerian attended a press conference, accompanied by the Nice president and his sporting director, Julien Fournier. After an impressive performance in the French Cup against PSG, the former SCO Angers player was presented at the press conference. The native of Beaumont-sur-Oise expressed his ambitions during this meeting: “For this end of the season, I especially want to bring added value to the coach and the team.” The Nice winger showcases a playing style that stands out from other players, with technical and physical qualities that have impressed his coach: “I wanted a dynamic player, capable of exploiting depth. He has an interesting profile.” The 21-year-old started his career without going through a training center. He was recruited in Portugal’s second division and then transferred to England at Middlesbrough. He came to prominence at Le Mans, on loan from Stade de Reims. Arriving in Angers this season, he was transferred to Nice in the winter transfer window for around 7 million euros. An unusual journey for an atypical player. The new Aiglon (Eaglet) admits to having had a rather original start to his career: “I did not attend a training center. But today I am proud because I seized every opportunity presented to me. It is an achievement to reach a club like this one.”
Currently second in Ligue 1, OGC Nice has made two signings to strengthen the squad with Billal Brahimi and Jordan Amavi. The current second-place team in the championship is facing a challenging start to the month: hosting Clermont, hosting Marseille in the French Cup, and traveling to Lyon in the championship.
