From April 5th to 7th, for the 5th edition of Biot and the Templars, visitors are invited to take a spectacular leap into the 13th century, when the Order of the Temple ruled the town.
This year, themed around medieval gastronomy, the historical event, entirely free, has continually attracted an ever-growing audience since its inception in 2009: in 2012, Biot and the Templars welcomed 40,000 people.
This 5th edition once again offers the extraordinary alchemy of historical reenactment and entertainment, with an event of grand scale paying attention to every detail, delighting both young and old for an unforgettable moment.
Exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops, conferences, markets, and taverns will reveal the flavors, products, history, and techniques of medieval gastronomy, which form the roots of our culinary tradition, listed since 2010 as a UNESCO World Heritage.
Troupes, artisans, merchants, artists… Coming from all over Europe (Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, England, and France, representing 8 nationalities), they are hundreds strong in bringing to life a city-wide historical reenactment.
Biot and the Templars offer a true immersion into the fascinating world of the Middle Ages. Invited to dress in costume, visitors then partake in an unforgettable experience engaging all their senses. At every turn of a camp, an artisanโs workshop, a combat scene, a spectacle, an interactive animation, or a conference allows one to understand the life of the Templars while being entertained and amazed.
Many unique moments of grand spectacle await the public, including the Sound and Light illumination of the City followed by a fire and percussion show; the solemn torchlight parade leading troops and visitors to the Festoyade at the Grand Place, completely redesigned; Templar combats; majestic falconry demonstrationsโฆ
