The City of Biot is participating in the 30th European Heritage Days and is naturally aligning itself with this year’s theme, “1913-2013: a century of protection,” by offering a lively and engaging exploration of its rich material and immaterial heritage.

One hundred years after its enactment, the December 31, 1913, law on historical monuments has led to numerous protective measures for a rich heritage. Through its obligations regarding restoration, maintenance, and enhancement, heritage protection has, over a century, allowed for the development and preservation of ancestral expertise, which in turn ensures the continuity of heritage sites and thereby the cultural and tourist fabric of each region.
By offering a lively and engaging exploration of its rich material and immaterial heritage, the City of Biot echoes the celebration of this anniversary. Indeed, during these two days, guided tours of the Museum of History and Biot Ceramics will revisit Biot’s past linked to clay work, which today anchors a vibrant ceramic creation. Children will enjoy a treasure hunt and, while having fun, will pick up or devour bits of Biot’s history.
Meanwhile, participants in the Photo Marathon will each bring a unique perspective on the communeโs heritage to capture the winning shot. Culinary traditions are particularly cherished in Biot with the pizza workshop at the รmile Cheval Communal Oven and the 5th Pissaladiรจre Competition.
Finally, as a result of exemplary restoration and archaeological work, the Saint Mary Magdalene Church will be the subject of a guided tour led by Germaine Leclerc, a specialist in Niรงois Primitives painting.
