The Principality’s representatives began the third run yesterday with a bang on the Yanqing National Sliding Centre track. Following a strong push from Boris Vain, Rudy Rinaldi showcased an incredible driving power. The well-timed trajectories allowed the two Monegasque athletes to achieve a remarkable time of 59″57.
Thanks to this perfect time, Boris Vain and Rudy Rinaldi set a historic result for the Principality at the Olympic Games. This news delighted Prince Albert II, a big fan of bobsleigh and a five-time Olympian in this discipline. This memorable performance crowns all the hard work of Monaco’s bobsleigh team.
“It was a great battle,” confides Rudy Rinaldi about the 4th run. “Unfortunately, I made a mistake that cost us dearly. I wanted to deliver the best run of my career and in the end, because of a turn, I didn’t… I’m a bit sad because I wanted to please everyone and get closer to the podium. I wanted to reach the bottom without regrets, by delivering a great run. I think we deserved better… When I came here, I knew we were going to fight for a top 10. In bobsleigh, when you’re playing for the top 10, you know you can aim for the top 6 and then you can also target a medal…”
