“I want to cross. I have an appointment with my doctor,” pleads a lady whose face is covered with bandages. “I’m sorry. It’s not possible. No one can pass,” replies the policeman. The lady turns around, adding curses. There were dozens of scenes like that one on Friday morning in front of the barriers set up around the Palace of Justice. “We have instructions. There is a bomb threat. The area needs to be secured, and those within it evacuated. There should be no one within the perimeter, including the media, only the firefighters and police officers. Some people have trouble understanding it, but imagine if it explodes…” The policeman’s explanation is educational.
About thirty police officers were deployed along with bomb disposal specialists accompanied by their dog. They were assisted by around twenty more officers. The Rusca Palace received a call shortly before 9 am. Security forces intervened instantly. They entered the Rusca Palace and searched it. 1 hour and 20 minutes later, the alert was lifted. At 10:20 am, the Place du Palais de Justice returned to normal. Only the staff of the Rusca Palace was authorized to enter the premises. An investigation will be conducted to try to find the author of this bomb threat.
