The “Hero of Two Worlds” was born on July 4, 1807, in Nice.
Today, it is through the duo Melis, father and son, that “the man of liberty, the man of humanity,” as Victor Hugo wrote, comes to life again in the pages of Luciano Melis’s book, “Garibaldi, My Hero.” It must be said that the paths of Luciano and Giuseppe are dotted with certain similarities. It was at the age of four and a half, in Sardinia, that Luciano developed a passion for Garibaldi.
From then on, this passion for the character, whose key principles were “progress, justice, liberty,” would only continue to grow. “Garibaldi never did anything for money or glory,” expressed Luciano Melis.
Today, the Sardinian child and his actor son, Stéphane Melis, share their passion for this “fighter for peace” with the public.
