Here’s a beautiful film that will make you smile from beginning to end. It’s a film with a good sense of humor that will put you in a joyful mood. It’s a lovely story that offers a lighthearted experience…
To get a preview of the film, keep an eye on Attilio, Giorgetto, and the Professor…
The Professor, as his friends call him, was a teacher of Latin and Greek. Attilio repairs, hunts for antiques, buys, restores, sells, and takes care of his daughter, who left to live her life ages ago, as much as she keeps an eye on his antics. Giorgetto, on the other hand, has always maintained a reasonable distance between himself and work.
The first has a retirement pension that he only complains about because it only covers his rent and utilities, food, and the wines he enjoys. The second has always maintained a loose connection with the business register, and it’s not likely to change anytime soon to require costly contributions and force him to give up his freedom to either pursue business ventures or do nothing at all. As for Giorgetto, his Minimum Old Age pension is regularly cut by incidental expenses like health coverage.
The three friends are retired. This in no way means that they have given up on big dreams. Instead, they are nurturing the dream of doing what everyone else, especially one of their uncles, does: to retire in a sunny country where life is cheap and you can simply reach out and pick the fruits growing on a magical tree. But which country should they choose to reap the best benefits? Since they’re going to embark on a journey and break away from everything, they might as well choose the best option and seek advice.
Earthquakes, tsunamis, cyclones, ruthless dictatorships, economic instability, inflation, and jellyfish can ruin a life and turn it into hell. Of all the destinations considered, only the Azores islands pose none of these threats, but they don’t speak Italian there, only Portuguese. Let’s go with Portuguese, which learning shouldn’t be… too hard.
The preparation for the journey leaves nothing to chance. Goodbyes are said, savings are withdrawn, café bills are paid, and a collective fund is set up to buy plane tickets and cover initial expenses. All that’s left is to set off on the adventure.
But just as they were about to leave, the three friends hold back, and after reflecting, they return to square one: why leave the comforting cocoon of Rome?
