Anne Fontaine has succeeded in creating a political comedy featuring Nicolas and François, former presidents of the Republic. Fictional characters?
Nicolas travels to Corrèze to persuade François to join him in an electoral campaign. Together, they will stand against the “fascist threat” and return to the spotlight.
This film is delightfully subtle, with dialogues leading to many misunderstandings.
As for the actors, they never overdo it. Jean Dujardin evokes rather than imitates, Grégory Gadebois is very accurate, and their partners, portrayed to perfection by Pascale Arbillot and Doria Tillier, form an endearing quartet.
