Box office: The Best of Patrick Mottard

Latest News

Patrick Mottard expresses his passion for the 7th art with a selection of the best films he has enjoyed watching throughout his career as a viewer and … critic.

Here are the top 10 films on his list.

In this period of boredom and search for escape, everyone will find something they connect with … or not!

9 – TALK TO HER (Pedro Almodovar, 2002, Spain)

The best Almodovar is a flamboyant melodrama. Marco, a writer, is in love with Lydia, a bullfighter, and Benigno, a nurse, is in love with Alicia, a dancer. Both women are in a coma following accidents… The story thus begins in the hospital, and its outcome will be most unexpected.

With indescribable grace and infinite tenderness, this story that could have been risqué becomes, through Almodovar’s magic, a hymn to life where one can become a “conveyor of humanity.”

A story where love, if not stronger than death, is at least stronger than a coma… Let’s not forget two magical sequences in the film: an excerpt from the ballet Café Muller by Pina Bausch and the unforgettable interpretation of La Paloma by Caetano Veloso.

Moved by the film, I even made Marco one of the characters in the final act of my play On the Sound of a Zither, staged successively by Henri Legendre and Fabienne Colson.
