This season, which is more musical than usual, the Espace Magnan is hosting the next show featuring Dona Flor, accompanied by her musicians: Bรฉatrice Alunni on piano, Mathieu Bonizzoni on double bass, and Cรฉdric Ledonne on drums and percussion.

This warm and talented group offers us a musical tribute to one of the greatest names in Brazilian music, Ivan Guimaraes Lins (born June 16, 1945, in Rio de Janeiro), a Brazilian singer and composer, ranked among the most talented artists of MPB (Brazilian Popular Music).

His music, influenced by bossa nova, northeast Brazilian rhythms, and jazz among others, holds great harmonic and melodic richness. More specifically, Ivan Lins found musical inspiration from Antonio Carlos Jobim (Tom Jobim), as well as Dorival Caymmi, Michel Legrand, Henry Mancini, and Jimmy Webb.

However, his compositions will be interpreted by 4 artists in their own right, who are worth seeing in the region:

– Dona Flor, well known since her first band โ€œBel Horizonteโ€ created by a group of friends, including Marc Peillon on bass in its early days, and โ€œDona Flor et ses marisโ€ created in 1992.
– Bรฉatrice Alunni: She divides her time between two passions, stage costumes and music. She completed her classical piano studies, at the age of 17, at the Nice conservatory and simultaneously attended a fashion design school. It was in Paris that she obtained her costume designer diploma and decided to move towards โ€œcurrent music.โ€ Upon returning to the coast, she joined a variety group, in which she played for over 10 years. But it is with Miss Saya that her repertoire gently evolved towards jazz, which she has always cherished. Torn between opera costumes and musical improvisations, her heart is conflictedโ€ฆ
– Mathieu Bonizzoni: After classical studies at the Menton conservatory where he played piano and flute, Mathieu changed course and took on a new instrumentโ€ฆ The adventure truly began with the discovery of the double bass, the queen of jazz! Studies at the national conservatory in Nice and encounters where music always rhymed with passion.
– Cรฉdric Ledonne: Raised in a family of musicians and exposed to the greats on the coast, Cรฉdric has developed a keen musical earโ€ฆ Feeling and love for music are the key elements for this self-taught drummer-percussionist who joined the national conservatory in Nice in jazz a few years ago! A friendly and sincere stage meeting for an internationally known artist!
