Acrobatic figures, intense battles, heated atmosphere, and a rush of adrenaline – expect a grand spectacle of the highest level on Saturday, May 12th at 4 PM, at the Verdure Theater in Nice, featuring the Breakdance Championship. This large-scale event is being held in Nice for the first time.
The biggest “stars” from France will showcase their talents in both standing dances and floor routines to impress the audience and win the favor of the international jury composed of professional dancers (some of whom dance with Madonna), who will select the participants for the French Championships.
The further a dancer progresses in the competition, the more performances they will have to deliver. In total, they may perform up to 15 routines, offering a distinct choreography each time. They will be judged on their originality, musicality, technique as well as their “presence” on stage and their ability to energize the crowd.
Far from the stereotype of “suburban dance,” Breakdance now enjoys professional and institutional recognition, attracting more and more people to the practice. In fact, nearly 800 candidates competed in the pre-selections, aiming to catch the judges’ eyes and join the elite of French hip hop. Ultimately, there will be 16 male and 8 female highly motivated and well-trained candidates competing for the title of Bboy or Bgirl France 2012. However, qualifications will still be open on the day of the event (from 1:30 PM to 4 PM).
