The presentation of the interfaith calendar of Alpes Maritimes Fraternity*, an organization that brings together all the faiths present in Nice and the department, of which he is president, was an opportunity for Christian Estrosi (Mayor of Nice) to look back on the year that has just ended and the dramatic events that marked it.

For the Mayor of Nice, “in our territory, we do not want to be drawn into battles stemming from other geopolitical contexts and let the flag of communitarian protest be raised, setting people against each other.”

Examples? The march on January 10th, which brought together more than 30,000 people. The “Pact of Fraternity,” signed on April 30th at the CUM at the initiative of Rabbi Michel Sarfaty, president of the Judeo-Muslim Friendship of France, gathering religious figures from different faiths to promote interfaith dialogue through the spread of mutual understanding.

Wishes for 2016? Christian Estrosi expresses his confidence and hope: “In grave times, the French have always known how to come together. The meetings of Alpes-Maritimes Fraternity are rooted in our land, steeped in traditions and humanity.”

*”Alpes-Maritimes Fraternity” is a consultation body between all religions, working for peace, freedom, and respect among people regardless of their faith. It is an essential body for living together harmoniously.
