Keeping informed and informing: two essential verbs in the journalism profession, but also in the daily life of every citizen. It is with this in mind that many students from the Nice Academy, through the DAEMI (Academic Delegation for Education in Media and Information), learn to inform their peers throughout the school year in schools, middle schools, and high schools. On Wednesday morning, at the Nice Rectory, Jacqueline Quéhen, coordinator of the DAEMI, awarded the prizes for the school newspaper and blog contests. She emphasized the importance of media: “It is never too early to take an interest in current events and understand the world we live in by reading newspapers, watching news on TV or listening to it on the radio. Furthermore, when writing articles, one must always keep in mind that one is writing to be read, and this requires respecting certain writing rules as well as owning one’s opinions.” The writing rules were perfectly assimilated by the seven winners (see list following the article).
This ceremony marks the end of the school year, highlighted by the Junior Journalism Day. Nice Première modestly participated in this day by assisting middle school students with audio interviews (links: [Nice Première and its Junior Journalists](https://www.nicepremium.fr/article/nice-premiere-et-ses-journalistes-juniors-.699.html), [A Day of Junior Journalism Like No Other](https://www.nicepremium.fr/article/une-journee-(du-journalisme-junior)-pas-comme-les-autres.696.html)). The result was very convincing: spontaneity, intelligent questioning with a naturalness that could make many journalists envious. The tone is pleasant and accurate. The newspapers or blog awarded on this Wednesday are the written equivalent. They prove that with educational and pedagogical support, students of all ages (from 6 to 18) are capable of producing quality information. They do it with passion. All that remains is to extend it to as many classes as possible.
