Bus, tramway, cable car… 57 million euros in state aid for the Metropolis

The government will allocate a budget of 57 million euros to develop public transportation in Nice, Cagnes-sur-Mer, and Saint-Laurent-du-Var for new buses and trams, as well as for the cable car project in the Var.


The Metropolis is expected to receive funding for four upcoming projects.

  • 6.5 million euros are allocated to implement a high-level service bus line to alleviate congestion on Nice’s Gambetta Boulevard.
  • 30 million euros to assist with the realization of the T4 tram line to connect Nice to Cagnes-sur-Mer in 20 minutes, with the start of construction announced for 2023.
  • 18.5 million and a half for the future T5 tram line intended to connect the Ariane neighborhood to the center of Nice.
  • 1 million euros to support the cable car project between Nice and Saint-Laurent-du-Var. The cabins are expected to cross the Var River in a few minutes.
