The opening of Plages Electroniques last Thursday night was decidedly marked by fantasy, color, and freshness. This first evening was a true family celebration where Busy P, Breakbot, Surkin, and Krazy Baldhead delivered a superb show. Now, it’s time for the second round with C2C, DJ Muggs, MC2, and DJ Diams!
C2C • On and On Records / NANTES
This year, C2C has made a significant impact on current DJ culture and Scratch Music. Armed with an album and a live show that is decidedly extraordinary and ambitious, these four don’t set any limits for themselves. C2C is above all four young people from Nantes: 20Syl, Atom, Greem, and Pfel. Founded more than ten years ago in the Nantes region, the collective performs on the trendiest electro stages.
DJ MUGGS • Soul Assassins / US
At a time when it is common to see producers freely copying each other, no one can boast of making their productions sound “like Muggs”! The inimitable character of his music likely finds its origin in the diverse influences of this producer, founder & DJ of Cypress Hill, the famous Hispano-American hip-hop combo. This activist of the underground hip-hop scene will delight fans of the genre with a set that explores the history of hip-hop with electro beats.
MC2 • I.O.T. – Château Bruyant / MARSEILLE
MC2 practices high-level Electro-glitch-hop, the art of building beats by provoking and utilizing machine bugs. A skipping CD or a reversed sound can be devilishly groovy in expert hands. The result is a futuristic sound, harmoniously deconstructed and devilishly danceable. Noticed for his thunderous remixes, MC2 quickly becomes the darling of a bubbling Marseille scene.
DJ DIAMS • Small Axe / CANNES
With 15 years of experience in DJing, acclaimed turntablist (semi-finalist of the DMC NUMARK French Scratch Cup 2008) DIAMS gets the dance floors moving with his meticulously crafted sets. Distilling a subtle blend of hip hop, glitch hop, and dubstep, sprinkled with sharp scratches, the DJ from Cannes, DIAMS, brings a bit of freshness to today’s musical landscape. A regular at festivals, pubs, and clubs in the south of France, he is unanimously praised for his technique and sharp selections.
