Café des Sports: A First on Investment

Latest News

This Wednesday evening, the first edition of the Café des Sports took place in the auditorium of the Sports Museum, organized by UPE 06. On the agenda was a discussion among professionals lasting more than an hour on the theme “Why and how to invest in sports?”.

Sports are experiencing challenging times due to the economic crisis, but not only. Poor management of a club or association, excessive taxation, and lack of resources are current issues. This is why UPE 06 (Union Pour l’Entreprise des Alpes-Maritimes), its sports branch, and the Sports Museum launched a “Café des Sports” bringing together sports professionals from the department. In the auditorium rows, there were notable people for this first event, including Pierre Cambréal, president of the Regional Olympic Committee (C.R.O.S.), Tony Catoni, president of Stade Niçois, Diego Noto, president of Cavigal, as well as members from Allianz, Azur Sport Organisation, Decathlon…

“UPE has a mission with young entrepreneurs. The angle of this Café des Sports is to connect the business world with sports issues. For this, it was important to call upon local players to express their difficulties, and concerns regarding financing and investment,” explains Cédric Messina.

A debut in the form of a test, featuring Cédric Messina, president of MyCoach and the Sports Commission of UPE 06, accompanied by Thomas Fanari, head of communication and events at the Sports Museum. A Café des Sports in test mode with the support of a live-tweet from various participants and a camera to work on improvement points. Over nearly an hour and a half, the thirty or so attendees were able to exchange views during lively debates, share their impressions, and sometimes express their concerns.

“As the meetings progress, the speakers will gain confidence. Some analyses were very pessimistic, even catastrophic regarding mass sports. It’s certain that we will gather ideas and explore solutions and proposals,” rejoices Cédric Messina, the main player in this Wednesday evening meeting.
