The Nissart Per Tougiou* association, chaired by Jean-Franรงois Marro, is calling for applications for the Election of the May Queen 2018, which will take place on Tuesday, May 1st at the Cimiez Gardens.
The election of the May Queen is a local tradition modernized in 2014 by the Nissart Per Tougiou association and aims to present a young and dynamic, sincere and passionate aspect of the Niรงoise culture.
To participate, young women must be between 16 and 29 years old and reside in the Niรงoise region. The deadline is set for April 1st.
The selection process
The Nissart Per Tougiou staff will offer candidates an initial meeting to select five young women who will form the royal team.
Between April 16th and 29th, 2018, the public will be able to vote online for their favorite candidate based on presentation videos posted on the France Bleu Azur website and on social media.
The five candidates will participate in the final election to succeed Juliette, May Queen 2017, during the opening of the Fรชte des Mai in Nice. Each of the candidates will showcase her personality and love for local culture with the support of a speech and a performance of her choice (music, singing, dancing, cooking, theater, games, or any other field that suits her…).
A jury composed of five local associative or political personalities, together with the public opinion expressed online, will elect the May Queen 2018, the one whose personality and talent have shone.
The other four candidates will become her ladies-in-waiting throughout the year.
The May Queen 2018 will receive numerous gifts, invitations to many events, and will also have the duty of official representation, as she becomes the ambassador of the Niรงoise culture throughout the year!
