Despite the lockdown in effect since October 30 in France, the association “Nous Toutes 06” is organizing a gathering this Saturday in Nice to denounce sexist and sexual violence.
Despite a sensitive context related to COVID-19, the feminist collective “Nous Toutes 06” supports its action by organizing, as part of the week of action against sexual and gender-based violence, a gathering this Saturday at Place du Palais from 3 PM to 5 PM.
The gathering will feature speeches on the topic of violence against women and femicides that have occurred in France in recent years, the intervention of local associations partnering in the event, and a minute of silence in tribute to the victims of femicide.
As a reminder, in France, in 2020, one woman dies every two days at the hands of her partner. Although the legal framework has been strengthened, there is still much to improve to curb this scourge. During the lockdown, the various protective measures for women and children against domestic violence put in place by the government remain operational.
In case of problems, victims have the freedom to leave their homes at any time without needing to have a certificate. They can call 17 or use 114 via SMS in case of immediate danger.
