crepes_nice.jpg “The festival of candles” in February is known to all as the festival “to flip pancakes.” The City Hall of Nice has made it a festivity that will visit 16 establishments, all of which have a school cafeteria. On this occasion, 3,000 children will get to see and taste the pancakes.

This Monday, February 3, the students of Fuon Cauda Elementary School in Nice were the first to taste this festive dessert made of pancakes by Chef Ratatouille.

The participation of Mrs. Catherine MOREAU, Metropolitan Councilor, and Mr. Lauriano AZINHEIRINHA, Delegate for Education and Youth, as well as the school director, aimed to support the theme around the school cafeteria.

As for Mrs. Franรงoise MONIER, Deputy for Early Childhood, she dedicated Tuesday afternoon, February 4, to the little ones at the Crรจche ” Les petits Poucets ” in Nice: “Tasting sessions, color, and healthy eating are goals for the children. This very special day, she confided, was an opportunity to encourage those who care for the well-being of children and their diet. Thus, topics such as nutritional balance or obesity were naturally discussed.

The discovery of this festival’s history, the tasting of pancakes, as well as the organization of games (pancake flipping, quizzes…) provided the children with moments filled with joy and good humor.

At Candlemas, while everyone happily adheres to the gourmet tradition of making pancakes, for Lauriano AZINHEIRINHA: “Enjoying this dessert in schools aims to raise awareness that meals are a time for sharing and pleasure.” He also highlights that it’s a good opportunity to introduce children to everyone who works in school catering.
