For the third consecutive year, the western relay group 06 of the French Association for the Paralyzed (APF) is organizing the Entrโ2 marches Festival from May 21 to May 25, 2012, at the municipal performance hall at 45 rue de Mimont.
The city of Cannes and the French Association for the Paralyzed, with the support of the famous director Georges Lautner and many partners, wanted to honor disabled people to explain what disability is, share how affected individuals experience it daily, and create moments of joy.
To achieve this, they took advantage of the major cultural event of the Cannes Festival and addressed disability through film productions, focusing on short films that depict disability or are made by disabled people. All types of disabilities are considered, whether motor, sensory, or mental.
The Entrโ2 marches festival will take place at the municipal hall, 45 rue Mimont in Cannes. The screening room is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility, and this year special efforts have been made to make it accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing: the room is equipped with a hearing loop, most films are subtitled, and a sign language interpreter will be present at all sessions except Thursday to facilitate interaction with the audience.
Each session will be followed by an audience vote. The jury will be chaired by Nicolas Bary, filmmaker, screenwriter, and film producer (notably known for “The Children of Timpelbach”) and will include people representing all types of disabilities.
The closing evening will be dedicated to the awards ceremony, with trophies specially created by Daniel Branchard, master potter in Vallauris.
