The 4th edition of the Cannesรฉries festival started last Friday and lasts until Wednesday, October 13.
The opening ceremony took place on Friday evening in Cannes, where awards have already been given. It was presented by Laurie Cholewa from Canal+. Actors walked the pink carpet, specific to Cannesรฉries. The closing will be on Wednesday evening, also at the Palais des Festivals.
The Competition
10 series in Competition, 10 series in Short Series Competition, and 4 series Out of Competition are part of the official selection. Throughout the festival, they are screened at the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumiรจre of the Palais des Festivals and at the Espace Miramar.
The main jury is composed of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (the president), Sigal Avin, Naidra Ayadi, Salvatore Esposito, and Marco Prince. Aisling Bea (the president), Assaad Bouab, and Marie Papillon are responsible for judging the short series.
The competition for the short series will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Espace Miramar.
Canal+ and Allocinรฉ have launched the Audience Award for the Best Series in Competition. It’s still possible to vote here. The winner will be revealed on Wednesday during the closing.
Cannes Appointments
The Cannes Appointments at the Espace Miramar offer the public screenings, conferences, and meetings with series teams.
You will be able to attend the screening of Paraiso on Tuesday morning and discuss with Marc Levy and Miguel Courtois in the afternoon for an hour.
On Wednesday morning, the series Genera+ion will be screened. It will be followed by a premiere screening of the 22nd episode of the series Alex Hugo (France 3), along with a conference with actors Samuel Le Bihan and Fabien Baรฏardi, producer Delphine Wautier, and Jean-Franรงois Pignรฉ (the head of Fiction Productions at La Fabrique).
On Wednesday afternoon, you can watch the first two episodes of Exterminate All The Brutes. The creator and director, Raoul Peck, will be present for a discussion.
Online Festival
Cannesรฉries has also organized an online program to watch the series from home. They are available for 48 hours from the time they go online, but places are limited.
Short series can be viewed throughout the festival.
Meetings are also organized remotely.
