Jacques Victor (3rd canton of Nice)
Civic and republican spirit must manifest itself without ambiguity next Sunday to maintain a space of RESISTANCE, FREEDOM, AND DEMOCRACY in this city.
The values of LIBERTY – EQUALITY – FRATERNITY must unite us to oppose all ideas and practices of intolerance and discrimination in our neighborhoods where, in their time, men such as Monseigneur DAUMAS and Virgile BAREL walked side by side to defend these values.
I would like first to thank all the voters who expressed themselves, and of course those who entrusted me with their confidence, because the act of voting is a guarantee of democracy.
One of the major lessons of this election, although our canton is the one in Nice where the most votes were cast, is still a too-low turnout rate. By placing me at the top in this first round of the cantonal elections (31.68%), you have clearly shown your discontent with the government policy that is breaking all social achievements (retirement at 60, social security, public services…), sacrificing our children by reducing the resources for national education, treating health as a commodity to the detriment of staff and patients, and finding the only way out in setting citizens against each other by stirring fears.
If the widespread contempt and the current monarchic atmosphere rightly exasperate and revolt all generations, we must reject more than ever the dead ends of hatred and exclusion.
A vast majority of voters in the first round refuse this hateful demagogy of the National Front. In our canton with a tradition of resistance, all republicans must mobilize to confirm a useful elected official, one who is close to the inhabitants, and faithful to the values of our Republic.

Patrick Mottard (5th canton of Nice)
Dear Madam, Dear Sir, By positioning me at the top of the poll from the first round, you recognized, and for that, I am very sincerely touched, my work as a close representative and a vigilant, yet always constructive, representative of the Department.
Because you were angry with the government and its local supports, you punished the UMP representative by preventing her from being present in the second round.
Next Sunday, the situation will be unprecedented in the 5th canton as there will be a duel between myself, representing the Radical Left Party, and the National Front. I am among those who, within a major political formation then by creating my own association “Gauche Autrement”, have always campaigned for the renewal of fossilized political practices, often disconnected from daily social realities. But that fight went in the direction of republican requirement (rejection of the professionalization of politics, of the accumulation of mandates, promotion of civic education, development of popular education…), never by flattering lesser noble instincts because, in terms of demagogy, the journeys may be simple, but the returns are often complicated and often impossible.
Thus, today, in the 5th canton, the choice in the second round is simple. Son and grandson of deportees, a committed citizen, teacher, local elected official, I have always held a certain idea of the Republic, free, open, and fraternal, even though I am aware that, to deserve all this, it must also be more equitable. If I remain the representative of the 5th canton, it is to the concrete implementation of this justice that I will continue to watch in our neighborhoods and the General Council whose main competence is precisely Solidarity.
In contrast, what will my opponent do for you, isolated by his discourse, without program and without true solutions?
So, even if our political choices are not always the same, but because you know me well, because you appreciate my values, my pragmatism, and my effectiveness, I have no doubt that by granting me your votes on March 27, you will make the only responsible choice.
Residents of our beloved 5th canton, this choice, courageous, free, and serene, will allow me to represent all of you, without any sectarianism, within the departmental assembly. I will continue to deserve your trust there.

Olivier Bettati (8th canton)
Today, to be effective, one must belong to various institutions to benefit from all possible aids. It is with that spirit that I have aligned my actions alongside the President of the General Council, Eric CIOTTI, and the Deputy Mayor of Nice, Christian ESTROSI, President of the Urban Community.
As you know, for me, the mandate of General Councilor is about proximity. I have been able to meet many of you during Neighborhood Committee meetings, during my regular office hours every Wednesday at our annexed town halls, and of course, at numerous events, such as sports competitions, general assemblies of our associations, fairs, medal presentations, or neighborhood festivities such as the Carnival Rue de France, the Chestnut Festival Place des Palais des Arts, or the giant nativity scene at the Plateau du Piol. These events, like these works, have always been carried out in close collaboration with your Neighborhood Committees, cultural, sports, or merchant associations. I am convinced that effective action must be conducted in collaboration with all associative or economic actors in the neighborhoods where it is initiated.
Today, during these cantonal elections, you must choose the person who will be your daily interlocutor. All the presidents of these associations working in our neighborhoods wished, in light of the work accomplished together, to support me and urge you to vote for me, even if not all share my political convictions. “Going beyond political divides might finally be the best definition of a local elected official,” one of them told me.
Of course, we still have countless projects to accomplish: continuing the requalification of Boulevard Gambetta, Place Franklin, or the creation of new nurseries are only some of the projects I want to carry with you and for you.
However, there is one for me that is paramount, which is security, which nevertheless should be the responsibility of the State. Given the magnitude of the problem, it is now up to us, local elected officials, to partly substitute for the State.
For this system to be entirely effective, it will be accompanied by a reorganization of our municipal police with, in particular, the deployment of a presence patrol team permanently in our neighborhood.
This is one of the priority objectives of the next mandate.
To be effective, one must be in the majority; to promise for the future, one must have already started to construct it.
That is why I again solicit your vote and your confidence.
So that, after March 27, we continue, together, to imagine tomorrow.

Paul Cuturello (14th canton)
I sincerely thank you for the confidence you have shown me by qualifying me for the second round of the cantonal election, which will take place next Sunday, March 27. By placing me only 90 votes behind the UMP candidate, you have put victory within our reach.
On Sunday, March 27, you will have the power to sanction Nicolas Sarkozy, who devastates our Republic, who destroys our social model with the unjust pension reform, favoring always the wealthiest at the expense of the modest. You have the opportunity to say stop to the decline in purchasing power, the rise in unemployment, the reduction of medicine reimbursements.
On Sunday, March 27, you will have the power to say stop to Christian Estrosi, who, with his clan, wants to seize all powers. You will have the possibility to stop the establishment of a detestable system that wants to suppress or even eliminate all checks and balances and seize the city.
A system embodied by the UMP candidate whose double speech assures some tenants of beautiful promises but leaves all others helpless and without response in the face of Côte d’Azur Habitat’s disastrous management symbolized by the continuous increases in rental charges.
I thus call on you to mobilize against the establishment of the Estrosi system and to reject the excessive and always costly projects he wants to impose.
I propose to you instead to build, with you and for you, another future, based on a controlled and sustainable planning, on a human scale, genuinely respectful of the environment, benefiting current residents.
On Sunday, March 27, I propose to continue together to defend our neighborhoods, to act so that the tramway comes to the West as soon as possible, that the exit tunnel of the expressway is directly connected to the highway, that an emergency plan for social housing is launched.
Nearly two out of three voters (61.8%) did not vote last Sunday, and this very high abstention favored the UMP. Faced with the exceptional resources deployed by the UMP, exceptional mobilization is necessary.
I, therefore, call on you to take an active part in this decisive struggle by voting and having others vote on March 27.
All together, let us remove the candidate from the Estrosi-UMP system.
Let’s choose independence, integrity, and solidarity.

Benoît Kandel (UMP 12th canton)
Last Sunday, while eight candidates were competing, you decided to put us in the lead in the first round of the cantonal elections. Denise FABRE and I extend our sincerest thanks for the confidence you have thus demonstrated toward us. Next Sunday, March 27, it will be your turn to choose the candidate who, as of the next day, will defend your interests and build the future of the 12th canton.
Thanks to the numerous projects I have already realized since my election in May 2009, you have been able to see that I have acted efficiently and swiftly. By deciding to entrust me with a new mandate as general councilor, you will retain an elected official close to you, attentive to your concerns, and the only one truly capable of bringing the canton’s projects to fruition.
For this second mandate, my action priorities are clearly housing, employment, improvement of transport (including the Villefranche tunnel), delivery of new community facilities, and above all, security.
On this subject, I will continue the determined action I have undertaken since 2008:
– Deploying new municipal police officers in the canton,
– Opening a new municipal police station,
– Installing additional cameras,
– Creating new “watchful neighbor” networks with you,
– Continuing to fight for lowering the age of criminal responsibility to 16.
Security is a serious matter, which must be treated without overbidding or demagogy, but with competence and determination. My professional experience makes me entirely credible in this field.
By voting for me on March 27, you will elect a general councilor who will continue to work daily on strengthening your protection and security and improving your well-being.
