Cari opens the doors of construction sites to women in Nice

Latest News

Beyond the numbers, the human aspect is prioritized. CARI regularly meets with unemployed women, introduces them to the wealth of field trades with concrete job opportunities at stake. This occurs during International Women’s Day on March 8th, where, in each region, CARI construction sites welcome them.

Nearly 10% of women are unemployed, and the construction sector is one of the most promising in terms of jobs. Based on this dual observation, CARI has opened its trades to women through a strong recruitment policy. Awareness campaigns about construction trades are regularly conducted by the company, in partnership with the National Employment Agency (ANPE) and temporary staffing agencies such as ADIA. The goal: to introduce them to and help them appreciate these various trades, showing that they are not solely for men. Often without experience, the interested women then benefit from training provided by CARI.

The idea is beginning to take hold, and the women who have embarked on this adventure have been captivated. Early in 2006, CARI had four women on its construction sites. By the end of the year, there were 36: formworkers, carpenters, equipment operators, crane operators, and site team leaders.

And, just like men, they have great opportunities for career advancement. For example, in the Côte d’Azur region, a young woman started as a formworker and became a crane operator, currently on the significant construction project of the Aquariva tourist residence in Mandelieu-la-Napoule (06).

CARI has set a goal to employ 100 women on its construction sites by the end of 2007. It’s an ambitious challenge, but entirely achievable thanks to the local actions implemented regularly throughout the year. Moreover, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, each CARI Regional Directorate organizes meetings with women job seekers: a construction site visit, presentation of the company, available positions, and training opportunities.
