On March 16, at the Nikaïa Palace in Nice, Carmen Suite and Carmina Burana, two internationally renowned grand opera spectacles, will take the stage for what will be the start of a national tour aimed at a very wide audience and at revisiting an artistic genre experiencing a popular revival.
Opera for everyone! This is the motto of the DPF Prod’ production which invites both the initiated and the layperson to (re)discover the great classics of the genre. With ticket prices starting at 20 euros, it is an opening to culture and an intentional democratization of opera. The organizers’ will, as well as a strong popular demand, have quickly made the show an unmissable event.
This incredible adventure is the result of an extraordinary success during the two national tours in which 48,000 spectators shared fifteen dates throughout France. A true epic and a sort of revival for two works that are part of the pantheon of lyrical art while also being among the favorite tunes of the vox populi.
At the Nikaïa Palace, guests will enjoy the launch of this third tour with two exceptional, mainstream works performed by 160 artists (orchestra, choir, and ballet) from the National Opera of Ukraine-Lviv and under the baton of maestro Grigori Penteleïtchouk. To top it all off, as a minstrel with an angelic voice, Eve Ruggieri will narrate an evening sponsored by Radio Classique.
The troupe will perform, in the first part, a danced and played version of Carmen Suite by Bizet and Shchedrin, a suite for strings and percussion inspired by the famous opera.
Then the time for Carl Orff’s scenic cantata will come, and the unique choreographed version of Carmina Burana will be presented to the public. It will be an opportunity to discover or rediscover a famous classical score, elevated by particularly lively choreography through choirs like O Fortuna, universally known thanks in particular to John Boorman’s film, Excalibur (1981). A dream opportunity for the connoisseur and the curious to appreciate two masterpieces for the price of one!
