Nice-Premium: Your new role as General Counselor, along with the fact that you will soon be a mother, must make you happy?

Caroline Murris: It’s indeed a big year for me. A new adventure begins both politically and personally. And just at 30 years old!

N-P: Isn’t it difficult to be the youngest member at the Departmental Assembly?

C.M: It’s an honor for me to join the general council as the youngest member. It’s also a great opportunity to support the dynamic policies led by the President of the General Council, Eric Ciotti.

N-P: Did Christian Estrosi assign you any tasks before leaving?

C.M: I have been his deputy for a year, so I have followed all the district’s files alongside him. I will now carry on and bring to completion the major projects such as the development of the ski area and the positioning of the Mercantour resorts.

N-P: Isn’t it too difficult to replace Christian Estrosi?

C.M: It is an honor and a source of great pride to replace such an exceptional personality. I have been working with him since 2003. I know his attachment to the mountains and particularly to the canton of Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée, and I know he will always be by my side. He has always involved me in the files, so this area is not unknown to me, especially since I am well acquainted with the world of local authorities.

N-P: What are the current files?

C.M: Supporting economic activities and promoting tourism. The municipalities all have projects aimed at advancing their communities. I need to support them and defend these projects before the Departmental Assembly. And I certainly do not forget the association sector, notably cultural, social, and sporting. I will also be listening to the residents of the canton.

N-P: Your father, Marcel Murris, was the deputy mayor of St Etienne de Tinée. Did you stay in this Canton out of family tradition or political ambition?

C.M: When I was born, my father was a city council member of Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée, he was very devoted to his fellow citizens, tirelessly giving his time and effort. In recent years, he became the deputy of the hamlets. He always spoke to me about what he did with passion and conviction. It is undoubtedly he who passed on to me this desire to commit to public service.

N-P: What are your goals and ambitions for the future of your career?

C.M: Everything in its time. First of all, I will fully devote myself to my role as General Counselor and carry out a real policy of proximity. And I will also be busy with my daughter, to whom I will certainly transmit the passion for the Haut-Pays!
