The fifteen Leisure and Animation Centers (CAL) of the city of Nice are open all year round, scattered across the city and welcoming the residents of Nice. These are the municipal facilities par excellence for relaxing, having fun, and recharging alone or with family. A rich cultural program is offered throughout the year (exhibitions, shows, theater, festivalsโ€ฆ).

The city of Nice invites you to visit, at the Sainte Marguerite Leisure and Animation Center, an exhibition by American photographer Cathy Greenblat.

As part of the CALMAN program (Culture, Art, Leisure for Alzheimerโ€™s patients in Nice), the artist has taken photographs of people with Alzheimerโ€™s disease visiting cultural sites in Nice. The aim is to demonstrate the beneficial impact of the CALMAN project, a clinical, social, cultural, and artistic experience, which allows patients to support and develop independence, communication, social relationships, and artistic and cultural activities.

Cathy Greenblat, Professor Emerita of Sociology at Rutgers University where she worked for 35 years as a member of the Sociology Department, Womenโ€™s Studies, and the Bloustein School of Planning, has been engaged since 2002 in a multicultural photographic project on aging, senile dementia, and end-of-life care. She is the author of more than 100 articles and 14 books and gives lectures around the world. Her new book “Love, Loss and Laughter: Seeing Alzheimerโ€™s Differently” will be published in March 2012.

Exhibition until March 30, 2012 โ€“ Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 7:30 PM โ€“ Free entry.
