The idea of creating a club for the youth, “To protect them from a disordered and dangerous life,” began to take shape as early as 1943. A football club, the Casino Sports Association managed by the employees of Nice’s gaming sector, the Victorine Sports Association, and the Gallia Club decided to merge into a single club.

We are in 1945; on October 6, the club now has its colors: red and black, but no premises. 1945 also marks the arrival of Robert Remond, known as ‘Bob’. Things quickly accelerated, and by 1946, a stadium and a location were established. On June 29, 1947, the three founding clubs adopted the name: Cavigal. Thus, for 75 years, Cavigal, whose name pays homage to the three original founding clubs: Casino; Victorine; Gallia.

This brief mention of the birth of this emblematic Nice club, whose ethos is the defense of sport, all sports, in the selfless concept of amateurism, seems to us a beautiful presentation of this magnificent book: Cavigal, 75 Years of a Nice Epic.

This work by Diego Noto will captivate athletes, lovers of history—especially the beautiful side of it, human achievements—and, of course, the people of Nice, whose hearts are forever Red and Black.

Cavigal could have been called the Golden Book of Cavigal. As you leaf through this book, you will discover names that, for the older readers, will echo and offer a chance to relive their memories, and for the younger ones, as many pages as there are examples to follow.
