The traditional General Assembly of the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee was held under the presidency of its President Philippe Manassero, in the presence of political and civil authorities and numerous leaders of the 64 affiliated sports disciplines.
It was also the first official outing of Ivan Coste Maniรจre, the new regional president who is well-acquainted with the organization, having been one of the Vice Presidents of this committee. He expressed himself as follows: “Saying that sport proves to be a true catalyst is much more than an obvious statement; it is this beauty that constitutes the passionate fuel of the Olympic movement and gives it so much impact, power, and communication force.”
Since this was not an electoral assembly, the proceedings went smoothly, and the reports of the President, General Secretary Manuel Dureuil, and Treasurer Eric Tanguy were unanimously approved.
In his speech, Philippe Manassero highlighted the intense activity of the past year, with the Sports Caravan as the flagship event for the development of sports practice among young people.
“If 2013 was the year of recovery, 2014 was the year of change and development.”
However, as we know, appetite comes with eating, and the current team does not intend to stop there: “In a society that is undergoing a severe economic crisis with its procession of exclusion and inequalities, we have the duty and obligation to remind everyone that sport is a vector of citizenship and solidarity.”
This mission is all the easier as the accounts show good management with a turnover of 298,000 euros and a profit of 75,000 euros (compared to 115,000 in 2013).
The projected budget for 2015 is based on an amount of 310 thousand euros.
