Early in the morning, crossing the Valensole plateau amidst the blooming lavender fields was a wonderful cycling moment, especially since the temperature was not yet too high.
It went up a notch in the Col de Monfuron, after Manosque, but the long descent towards Cereste and the picnic allowed for some refreshment.
Between 12 PM and 1 PM, the picnic at the priory of Carluc was greatly appreciated by everyone, for refueling, cooling down, and sharing some anecdotes.
The second part of the stage was particularly challenging due to the scorching heat. During the ascent of the Col de Murs, many came close to experiencing sunstroke. The small washhouse of Murs was a lifesaver for a large part of the group!
Tomorrow, the third stage will lead the group to the summit of Ventoux to finish this first challenge in a grand finale.
