A preliminary survey by the National Observatory of Mountain Resorts ANMSM–Atout France shows optimism among resorts regarding initial booking rates for the Christmas holidays (over 70%).
Rates are expected to improve further with a surge in decision-making thanks to the upcoming cold and snowfall. The OSM will publish updated figures by mid-December.
The current booking level for the Christmas holidays is considered satisfactory for all resorts, especially for those at high altitudes. The projected occupancy rates range from 68% to 83%, depending on the capacity level and altitude of the resorts.
The New Year’s week is the most popular among vacationers with projected rates exceeding 75% for all resorts.
However, these good results fall short of the excellent 2013/2014 season, with a decrease in bookings of around 6% for all accommodation providers. This is due to tourists awaiting snow conditions in the resorts.
For Charles-Ange Ginésy, president of the National Association of Mountain Resort Mayors: ” […] We are nevertheless optimistic for this upcoming season. The current positive outlook recorded for the resorts is a positive sign, and last-minute bookings resulting from snowfall will play a crucial role.”
