The president of the Alpes-Maritimes department, Charles-Ange Ginésy, was re-elected as the president of the board of directors of the Mercantour National Park on Tuesday, November 2.

One of the main challenges of the Mercantour National Park – which is also labeled an “International Dark Sky Reserve” – is to protect its biodiversity and heritage. To preserve this natural area, Charles-Ange Ginésy is keen to consider the parameters of climate change.

He also wishes to continue the adhesion of municipalities to the PNM charter, which consists of the willingness of municipalities to become partners and to contribute to a territorial project. According to him, limiting the visitation of natural areas to avoid overvisitation is essential, as it will allow everyone to enjoy the national park.

“Through this new mandate, I have great ambitions for the PNM: we must be leaders in seeking solutions that will protect this haven from climate change, while offering our tourists and Maralpins an attractive offer. These actions align with the GREEN Deal policy I have been leading since 2017 as the head of the Department,” stated President Ginésy following his re-election.
