The president of the Departmental Council of Alpes-Maritimes presented the main points of the preliminary 2024 budget. A speech focused on responsibility and commitment to the residents of Alpes-Maritimes.
Within the walls of the Departmental Assembly, Charles Ange Ginésy outlined the details of the budget for the year 2024. With a tone infused with conviction, he emphasized the importance of this financial exercise in continuing the actions undertaken to serve the residents of Alpes-Maritimes. Despite the multiple challenges the department faces, Charles Ange Ginésy insisted on the decidedly committed and dedicated nature of this budget to meet the needs of the people of the region.
He recalled the rigorous management conducted since 2008, under his presidency and that of Éric Ciotti, which has allowed for maintaining leeway and continuing actions in favor of fellow citizens. A compelling example of this efficient management is the policy on RSA, closely addressed with Bernard Chaix. Thanks to an effective integration system, the department has successfully reintegrated a large part of the recipients into the workforce, resulting in a significant reduction of the RSA budget this year, decreasing from 154 million euros in 2023 to 141 million euros.
Future Challenges
However, Charles Ange Ginésy did not fail to highlight the challenges ahead, particularly the State’s decisions that could impact departmental finances. The announced transfer of the Specific Solidarity Allowance (ASS) to the RSA represents a new burden on the budget, but the president reaffirmed the importance of budgetary seriousness in a national context marked by alarming debt. Thus, preserving budget balance remains a priority while maintaining a high level of investment to meet the varied needs of the population.
The 2024 budget, amounting to 1.69 billion euros, reflects the continuity of actions undertaken since 2017, highlighting commitment to solidarity and flagship initiatives in the areas of sustainable development and innovation. Through this presentation before the Departmental Assembly, Charles Ange Ginésy thus affirmed the desire of the Department of Alpes-Maritimes to remain at the service of its residents, with determination and responsibility.
