Latest News

As France has just been struck at its heart by terrorists determined to attack the symbols of our Democracy, Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolitan Area, denounces an appalling act of extreme violence.

“No words are strong enough to condemn the violence and barbarity of this premeditated act that targets France through a famous press organization that has always defended freedom of thought, freedom of expression, and freedom of opinion.”

All my thoughts, and I know those of the people of Nice, go out to the victims’ families to whom I want to extend all our solidarity and compassion. National solidarity must today transcend ideological divides.

It has been several months now that I have been saying France is at war, a war declared on our democracy by terrorism, which we must fight with all our strength. This is why, because the threat persists, I call on the State to place all major cities in France on the Vigipirate attack alert plan, so all measures can be taken to protect citizens.

In Nice, we have already decided to reinforce the presence of Municipal Police officers in public transport and surveillance in places of large gatherings.

In memory of the victims and in communion with all citizens, we are organizing a gathering this evening at 6 PM – Place Garibaldi.

Finally, in consultation with the Mayors of the Metropolitan Area, we have decided to cancel the New Year’s greetings ceremony that was to take place this evening at Nikaรฏa.”

The entire Nice Premium team is horrified by the murder of our colleagues and extends its support to their families and loved ones. Freedom of the press has no price, and certainly not the price of blood.
