In a few days, the first regional final of the “Chef for a Day” Niçoise cuisine competition will take place in Pierre Gautier square. This is the second edition of the competition, which was held for the first time last year, live during the Rendez-Vous des Associations.
And this year, the City of Nice, through its Niçoise Cuisine specialist Franck Viano, has organized a new edition that will offer many passionate Niçoise cuisine enthusiasts the chance to enter the grand final in September with challenges worthy of major culinary TV shows.
There will be 9 regional finals gathered in 6 events that will take place from May 9 in Old Nice until June 20 for the last final in Sasserno square. 9 opportunities for the sixty-odd competitors already selected from the hundred applications received to win the title of “Chef for a Day… and a Region“.
But don’t worry, for those running late, selections are not finished for most regions, and you can still register by going to: https://chefdunjour.nice.fr and filling out the registration form, which will tell you (by entering your postal address) to which region you belong and what recipe you are assigned.
Pissaladière, Trouchia, Sweet Chard Pie, Pan Bagnat, or the emblematic Niçoise Salad will be the recipes to present to the various regional juries composed of chefs, culinary professors, and Niçoise cuisine specialists, who will determine which dish will head straight to the grand final to join Elena Zuccarelli, the winner of the first “Chef for a Day” edition.
Get your keyboards ready and then head to your stoves to try to win the prize!
