The city of Nice is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the “A Tire-Livres” initiative, which aims to foster a love of reading among children aged 18 months to 3 years by offering them a collection with a selection of the best books drawn and written for them! Until December 15, 2011, there will be readings and activities in libraries and early childhood establishments.
Introducing books at an early age is indeed the best way to prevent illiteracy and give the child every chance to develop by opening the doors to language and imagination.
The library and early childhood services of the city of Nice have therefore initiated this partnership, which has enriched over the years. For the 10th anniversary of “A Tire-Livres,” a whole program of free shows, meetings, and readings is organized for the little ones.
For this anniversary, the children of Nice’s nurseries will present their “reading mat” made of patchwork squares. The visuals created are inspired by the books of children’s author Emile Jadoul. This creative and interactive mat will be used in all early childhood establishments until December 15.
In the coming weeks, the focus is on the children and young people of Nice. May they dream, laugh, discover, be amazed…!
