“Being undocumented is an administrative situation, not a crime.” This is the slogan written on the flyers distributed by the association “Le cercle de silence,” which advocates for the rights of children and migrants.
To raise awareness among as many people as possible and garner maximum support for their causes, Le cercle de silence organizes a peaceful demonstration in the heart of the city of Nice every first Tuesday of the month.
For several years, this demonstration took place at Place Masséna. However, since September 6, 2016, they have moved to Place Garibaldi.
“A child is not a migrant; a child is a child!” confides Christian Masson, who has been working for the association since its inception, a little over six years ago.
Initially, Le cercle de silence set out with the mission to do everything possible to help children in precarious situations.
Their goal is to ensure that these children can “have the right to education, protection, shelter, and a healthy life,” declares Christian Masson. However, the association has since expanded its activities and strives to assist “families fleeing war, asylum seekers, and refugees.”
To achieve this, they need to rally as many people as possible to these causes.
Good luck!
