Christian Estrosi announces (four days before the departmental elections) that the Costanzo Center will be renovated.

Latest News

A seasoned politician, Christian Estrosi is well aware that the good candidate’s guide (he is not one directly, but he supports “his” Nice Ensemble list in the Nice cantons and is also involved as president of the UMP 06) includes announcements and inaugurations in the final week before the election. A way to leave voters with good memories…

Yesterday morning, it was the first groundbreaking for the renovation work of Centre Costanzo, which a few years ago was at the center of a dispute between the new owner (The Bouygues Group, which had bought it from the Lenval Foundation*) and local residents who opposed a real estate project.

Thanks to an amicable settlement between Bouygues and the municipality, the building will become publicly available to be turned into a social center, Animanice (formerly CCAS and Cedac).

This Animanice Center *(a leisure and intergenerational activity center) will be developed on two levels, each over 300 m2, totaling more than 600 m2, with a garden level and a raised first level.

It will include among other things: a 50 mยฒ reception and exhibition space, a 60 mยฒ dance hall, a dojo, a 50 mยฒ gymnastics room, a “pottery” space with a kiln of 60 mยฒ, and 5 rooms for various activities.

The cost of the operation is estimated at โ‚ฌ840,000 including taxes, with a construction duration of approximately 6 months.

This center will replace the outdated and impractical Terra Amata facility.

For Christian Estrosi: โ€˜Family policy also means offering activities and entertainment for all residents of Nice, regardless of their age! The renovation of this iconic building fully aligns with this approachโ€™.

Well-established in the neighborhood and a leader of the opposition against the Bouygues project, Philippe Vardon, president of Nissa Rebela, wishes to clarify: โ€œIf anyone doubted the electoral nature of the operation, the UMP candidate for the canton, Philippe Soussi, was beside him, despite never having been seen or heard concerning the future of this place before. Christian Estrosi has posed as the great savior of the site in a scandalous rewriting of history, and it is urgent to set the record straight.”

It took two years of relentless struggle from the population (to which the identitarians greatly contributed) and the elimination of UMP candidate Philippe Rossini, who today is trying his luck in the Nice 8 canton, in the first round of the 2011 cantonal elections for Christian Estrosi to become concerned with the future of Centre Costanzo.

After acquiring the Center, it took nearly three more years for the municipality to present its project. Very opportunely, this was done four days before the high-risk departmental elections for the UMP!
