While Claude Guéant was listing the new members, the political scene in Nice awaited the name of the Deputy Mayor. After responsibilities with the parliament were assigned to Henri de Raincourt and the Ministry of the Interior was entrusted to Brice Hortefeux, it was finally announced that the Ministry of Industry would follow the introduction of the first and last name of the Mayor of Nice. This appointment was indeed expected, but not necessarily for this ministry.
A new entry into the government for this self-made man from the UMP, who returns to the national political stage a few months after leaving it to be elected as the head of the City of Nice and its urban community.
Other movements in this new government include Michèle Alliot-Marie moving to the Ministry of Justice, while Brice Hortefeux takes over the portfolio of the Interior. Xavier Darcos heads to the Ministry of Labour, and Luc Chatel becomes Minister of Education while retaining his role as government spokesperson. Rama Yade is the new Secretary of State for Sports, Jean-Marie Bockel for Justice, and Valérie Létard swaps the state secretary for Solidarity for that of Sustainable Development.
The surprise of this government came from Frédéric Mitterrand, who is appointed Minister of Culture and Communication. Michel Mercier, treasurer of the MoDem, was placed at the head of Rural Space and Spatial Planning.
Finally, Pierre Lellouche becomes Secretary of State for European Affairs, Marie-Luce Penchard joins the Ministry of Overseas France, Benoist Apparu takes over the State Secretariat for Housing, and Nora Berra has been appointed Secretary of State for Veterans.
