On the occasion of a meeting of the airport’s supervisory board, Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, wanted to remind SAACA of the objectives to be achieved concerning the noise pollution generated by night flights and the KILO business aviation parking.
“I wish for solutions to be found very quickly. All commercial night flights must now be banned between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM, except of course for postal, delayed, or emergency flights. Furthermore, I wish for business flights to cease from 10:00 PM.
Regarding the nuisances generated by the business parking area, I want to remind that when private jets start up on the KILO area, they cause increases of 5 to 10 decibels compared to the ambient noise, which is equivalent to multiplying the noise pollution by four compared to the current traffic on the Promenade des Anglais.
This situation has not seen any significant improvement for several years, and the many local residents will not be able to endure these deafening noises again this summer. It is time to permanently ban the start-ups on this area and to carry out these operations at the more distant commercial stands.”
I have noticed that the members of the supervisory board have clearly heard my requests. I now expect significant measures to be taken as soon as possible. I will remain vigilant and very attentive to ensure that in the coming days, the first measures are implemented.”
