In August 2014, a complaint was filed by the National Environmental Syndicate against statements made by Christian Estrosi regarding the reintroduction of wolves in the Mercantour Park, which has today resulted in a libel conviction in the first instance.
The battle between shepherds and animal protectors has been raging for a long time and is not about to end. Each side is sticking to their beliefs.
Christian Estrosi, despite this conviction against which he announced he would appeal, remains undeterred: “Nothing and no one will stop me from fighting, alongside the farmers and shepherds, against the devastation caused by wolves in our mountains.”
He added: “I remind you that the attacks are increasing exponentially with 2,515 cases in 2014, while the government is only proposing incoherent and ineffective measures on the ground.”
Nothing more normal: farmers and shepherds vote!
As for the wolves… if they had been tamed, there wouldn’t be 20,000 of them in the world but 600 million like dogs, and no one would want to hunt them down with gunfire.
