Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, and Deputy President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, was elected President of the Advisory Commission of Municipal Police (CCPM) during a unanimous vote held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

The Advisory Commission of Municipal Police is an institution created in France to ensure a form of oversight and dialogue between municipal authorities and municipal police forces.
As president of the CCPM, he will be responsible for supervising and advising municipal police forces, thereby contributing to enhancing collaboration and coordination among the various entities involved in local security. Among other duties, the missions include presiding over commission meetings, representing it during meetings or events related to municipal police, and being responsible for coordinating the work of the commission.
Additionally, Christian Estrosi announced Dominique Faure’s announcement, Deputy Minister responsible for local authorities and rural affairs, regarding key measures aimed at enhancing the capabilities of municipal police. Dominique Faure announced the prompt issuance of a decree authorizing the use of tire spikes by municipal police officers to immobilize dangerous vehicles, as well as the upcoming expansion of access to databases for them, enabling better collaboration with other law enforcement agencies. This announcement represents a significant advancement in the resources available to municipal police to handle emergency situations and ensure citizen safety.
Municipal police are indeed indispensable players in public safety in our country and essential links in the security continuum, working closely with other security forces in our country, without yet having the necessary intervention means.
