Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of Nice Côte d’Azur, was elected yesterday as President of the Mercantour Ski Resort Joint Syndicate:
“Today, as the head of this Syndicate, I intend to undertake actions to further improve the facilities of the ski areas. I am committed to promoting and developing tourism, which is the cultural link, the DNA of our Metropolis, from the mountains to the sea. The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis represents a unique space for inter-municipal cooperation in France. No other territory can claim to unite, within the same space, all the landscapes and geographical situations encountered across the national territory.”
It was during the union council meeting that took place on Thursday, April 26, 2012, that the members elected Christian Estrosi as President, with Thérèse Fabron, Denis Bastanti, and Jean-Pierre Issautier as Vice-Presidents.
The Syndicate was created on November 19, 2001, between the General Council of Alpes Maritimes (90%) and the Community of Municipalities of the Mercantour Resorts (10%), with the aim of achieving, managing, and promoting the development and equipment of the ski domain for the resorts of Auron and Isola 2000.
With the creation of the Metropolis, Nice Côte d’Azur assumes the “Ski Resorts” competence, thus modifying the statutes of the Joint Syndicate: Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is now a shareholder with 51% and the General Council with 49%.
