The General Assembly of the Association of French Regions was held in a consensual atmosphere. It is true that when one is part of a limited group, opponents become colleagues and colleagues sometimes even become friends.
Philippe Richert from Alsace was elected president with a unanimous mandate to make the voice of the regions heard at the national level.
Christian Estrosi, who will be one of the Vice Presidents, is highly motivated in his new role: “Our regions have a new page to write. It is through the respect for the diversity of France’s territories, both in mainland and overseas, united by a shared destiny, that our regions will become significant players on the national and European stage. The State must, on the contrary, become a partner of the regions to enable the development of our territories.”
