The party’s high authority had annulled the elections of January 30th, deeming the vote “tainted by irregularities”.
Yesterday, the 12,600 registered voters had to reelect the departmental president of their party: it was evidently just a formality since, thanks to internal agreements, the candidate was unopposed and was none other than Christian Estrosi.
The Mayor of Nice and president of the Metropolis obtained a majority that, in the past and in other contexts, would have been described as “Bulgarian”: 88.05%. The voter turnout was 42.8% with 647 blank ballots.
As a sign of regained harmony, Christian Estrosi and Eric Ciotti committed “to strengthen the unity of our Federation in view of the upcoming deadlines and to contribute to making the Republicans, the leading party in France, the force of change that we wish for 2017”.
