In light of the scale of the health situation, Christian Estrosi is calling for the vaccination of teachers, ATSEM, and nursery staff who are on the front lines against the coronavirus.

The mayor of the city of Nice has decided to act in response to the growing danger of Covid-19, particularly in schools and nurseries that remain open despite the implementation of a new lockdown. Here are the words of the president of the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Metropolis:

โ€œWhile lockdown has been announced in the Alpes-Maritimes without the closure of schools, so as not to sacrifice the younger generation, teachers, Atsem personnel, and also nursery staff remain on the front lines against the virus. In daily contact with children, it is important to protect them. This vaccination will also help protect our children.

While in the Metropolis, we have now vaccinated 90% of those over 75 and are in the midst of vaccinating those over 50 with comorbidities, it is essential to consider personnel in contact with children as a priority group; this is also a recommendation from UNESCO and UNICEF.

I have already contacted the Regional Health Agency to gain this authorization and set up this vaccination. We have the capacity to do so in our vaccination centers. I am asking the Government to support this request. I hope to be heard quickly.โ€

As a reminder, vaccination against Covid-19 is an important step in the fight against the health crisis affecting the entire country, particularly the Alpes-Maritimes and about fifteen other departments, which have also been subjected to a new โ€œlockdown.โ€ Vaccination is prioritized for elderly people (over 75 years old) to assist hospitals overwhelmed by the number of hospitalized or intensive care patients.
