The Mayor of Nice was present yesterday at the exhibition palace to launch the third dose vaccination campaign.

The Mayor of Nice was present yesterday at the exhibition palace to launch the third dose vaccination campaign.

At 2 PM, Christian Estrosi arrived at the Exhibition Palace, the largest vaccination center in the city. The reason for his visit? The launch of the third dose vaccination campaign reserved for seniors over 65 years old.
Upon arriving at the exhibition palace, the mayor went through the process that everyone follows to get vaccinated at this location.
He first greeted the staff outside and at the entrance of the vaccination center.
Next, the Nice official met with the seniors who were waiting to be vaccinated. He thanked them for their responsiveness to this launch.

After greeting those waiting, he continued his tour to meet with the healthcare personnel responsible for administering the doses. He congratulated them on their dedication and work for the nation.

Christian Estrosi then addressed the press and emphasized the importance of this week.
“It’s a very important week since it’s the kickoff of the third injections for those over 80, but it’s also the week of school reopening. Two closely linked subjects, because as you know, the risk of propagation in schools is quite significant.”

The mayor also provided statistics on vaccination in the Nice-Côte d’Azur metropolitan area:

“256,000 people have received their first dose in our metropolitan area, with 217,000 fully vaccinated with two doses. Among them, 100,000 vaccinated individuals are over 65. Thus, 100,000 people are concerned by this third injection.”

He also mentioned the significance of Tuesday, September 7, as it will mark the launch of the third dose in nursing homes.

The mayor, who has been in office in Nice since 2008, also revisited last week’s incidents. The Exhibition Palace had been attacked by a group of anti-vaxxers who forced their way in. He further elaborated on the notion of anti-vaccine sentiments:
“There are two categories of people forming these groups; those manipulated by lies, who we can only help to open their eyes and show them they’re victims of deceit. Then there are the conspiracy theorists, the violent ones, dangerous like those from last week. There have been over 115,000 deaths in France due to this virus—is this group wishing for even more fatalities in our country?”

The 66-year-old mayor then clearly expressed his opinion about this third injection. For him, this third dose, reserved for seniors, is just a beginning, and it will eventually be aimed at the entire population.
