During a ceremony held at the Grand Chancellery, Christian Estrosi received the insignia of Officer of the Legion of Honor, awarded by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron and presented to him by Nicolas Sarkozy, who, in his speech, recalled their long shared political journey and unwavering friendship.
Christian Estrosi’s emotion was palpable:
“Being decorated today in 2021 is a symbol. My gratitude goes to Emmanuel Macron for including me in this promotion, and to Nicolas Sarkozy for presenting me with these insignia, whose journey and friendship with me have never faltered. They both embody the successive principles that my parents taught me to venerate: the Nation and the French Republic.”
Alongside him, doctors, researchers, and all individuals who played a major role in the fight against Covid-19 were also decorated. The president of the Metropolis received the rank of officer.
