Christian Estrosi’s wishes to the seniors of Nice

Latest News

This Thursday, Christian Estrosi extended his wishes to the seniors through a Facebook Live. The mayor of the city was accompanied by the visual artist, Jean Mas.

Christian Estrosi addressed the seniors as he does every year. Of course, this year remains different and quite particular. Today, the contact was made via a live session on the Facebook account of the mayor of Nice.

During his speech, he first conveyed his best wishes to the people of Nice. Welcomed in the workshop of Jean Mas, a Niçoise artist, the mayor wanted above all to spend this “precious” moment with his residents. Certainly, this year, there are no king cakes, orchestras, or festivities, but the affection remains present.

“Feel in my eyes this need to convey my affection and my wishes for new challenges to be faced,” he states. Christian Estrosi reiterates how important the seniors are in society: “those you embody have contributed so much to our city, to our country through other crises and moments of prosperity.”

Following this, he projected into this new year which he describes as “great.” Indeed, by July we should see “our consecration in the UNESCO World Heritage listing.” This will allow us to follow artists of all kinds. Despite this, he highlights the fact that “joy is not present” given the country’s health crisis.

The topic of Covid-19 was then addressed. Christian Estrosi noted that he wants to protect seniors as much as possible, and that everyone should take necessary steps to minimize risks. He is fully aware of the numerous sacrifices this requires. Associations have helped alleviate the solitude of the elderly and encouraged people to engage in physical activities. “I wish 2021 to be a year of hope, protecting you remains my priority,” he concluded his speech by encouraging seniors to “register en masse” to get vaccinated against the virus.
