Christian Estrosi “symbolically” leaves the departmental presidency of Les Républicains.

Outgoing president and not a candidate, Christian Estrosi held the last meeting of the departmental committee of Les Républicains last night before the renewal of the elected bodies, which will take place over the weekend of October 13 and 14.

As the sole candidate, Eric Ciotti was diplomatically absent, so the symbolic handover could not take place.

The future former departmental president confirmed his choice with a motivation already repeated: “As I have indicated to the members, and in coherence with the choice I made after the second round of the presidential election to dedicate myself to Nice, to the NCA Metropolis, I have decided not to be a candidate for the presidency of the federation.”

His message did not go beyond the official motivation: “During these years, I believe I have led our movement towards many successes and supported the young talents of our family. I will continue to have influence within our organization and work towards the reconstruction of the right and the center by championing the voice of the territories.”

As the sole candidate, Eric Ciotti was diplomatically absent, so the symbolic handover could not take place.

We will see how the “Niçois” deputy uses this mandate: to impose his very right-wing political line or to try to secure the party’s endorsement for his candidacy for the mayor of Nice?

Time will tell…
